How does one really know something?
How do we know that we know what we think we know? How the hell would I know?
Let’s investigate a bit…shall we? To say that we know something implies that we are accurate in our knowledge. Anyone with teenagers can attest that this is not entirely true.
This begs the larger question; what is truth?
A simple lyric from a ‘Paramore’ song speaks volumes, “The truth never set me free so I did it myself”.
I like that it infers two concepts; truth is relative to perspective, it is both within and without the self, and that it is freeing in the sense that it releases the shackles of falsehoods and, therefore, pain.
Have you noticed that the more we seek the more there is to find? The more knowledge we gain the more we see that we have barely scratched the surface!
Higher Truth
I believe, as evidenced by our miraculous aliveness, that there exits a higher truth amidst the multitude of its varying degrees. This multiplicity indicates a perfectly designed universal system that allows all beings to believe and create as they desire.
The ability for this system to coordinate all possible variables is unfathomable. Wonder of wonders!
When we believe something, it’s based on supposed personal evidence, but when our perceptions shift then we think we know something else. We continue to build upon these blocks with new concepts, like windows of knowledge that are perpetually opening up to us, offering ever broadening views.
As long as we are human this will be the case. Our truths will continue to change and evolve as we mature with age. Like climbing the mountain to clarify our perspective. (Sounds better than…getting older.)
