The Mind

Eaters Digest

September 10th, 2010 by Kim Jensen

Are you a Fatty-Pants?

Hey, I’m a fatty-pants too!!

I have, however, dropped 25 pounds recently!

Wanna know how? Thought so.

Bay & Cyd = Got the Goods!

Let me begin by saying that I am without religion when it comes to diets, as I am under the sweet delusion that they are neither good nor bad.

They are simply a schedule of disciplines

that do or do not work according to

individual beliefs and preferences.

Have you ever noticed that we, the professional dieters, have had success with certain food programs in the past- but somehow when we return to them— They are not as effective?

Why do you think that is?

Could it be that the mind is not in the same place it once was, and therefore, neither is the body? I assert that it is not about hormones or proper food combinations; it is about our thinking!

Story Time!

Once upon a time in the 70’s, ‘health food’ was brought into my life via my mother. She bought buckets of whole wheat and would grind it weekly for the sake of our souls. This was a noble act on behalf of her children and I applaud this kindness because it was, well, a lot of damned work and more costly than a box of Kraft’s-Mac-n-Cheese.

Unfortunately, I was unable to digest wheat, so you can imagine the distress this brought me. It is not unlike the ‘lactose intolerant’ taking on the Ayurvedic diet. (I can picture them now running through the halls doin the green-apple-quick-step in search of the loo, cursing that Deepak Chopra!)

So, maybe it’s not in our best interest to believe any one diet is the Holy of Holies in the long list of culinary cults. It would be more prudent to do what works for you as an individual. What you choose to eat is not part of this discussion.

How is the question?

What Do We Really Know?

August 29th, 2010 by Kim Jensen

How does one really know something?

How do we know that we know what we think we know? How the hell would I know?

Let’s investigate a bit…shall we? To say that we know something implies that we are accurate in our knowledge. Anyone with teenagers can attest that this is not entirely true.

This begs the larger question; what is truth?

A simple lyric from a ‘Paramore’ song speaks volumes, “The truth never set me free so I did it myself”.

I like that it infers two concepts; truth is relative to perspective, it is both within and without the self, and that it is freeing in the sense that it releases the shackles of falsehoods and, therefore, pain.

Have you noticed that the more we seek the more there is to find? The more knowledge we gain the more we see that we have barely scratched the surface!

Higher Truth

I believe, as evidenced by our miraculous aliveness, that there exits a higher truth amidst the multitude of its varying degrees. This multiplicity indicates a perfectly designed universal system that allows all beings to believe and create as they desire.

The ability for this system to coordinate all possible variables is unfathomable. Wonder of wonders!

When we believe something, it’s based on supposed personal evidence, but when our perceptions shift then we think we know something else. We continue to build upon these blocks with new concepts, like windows of knowledge that are perpetually opening up to us, offering ever broadening views.

As long as we are human this will be the case. Our truths will continue to change and evolve as we mature with age. Like climbing the mountain to clarify our perspective. (Sounds better than…getting older.)

You Can Have & Eat That Cake!

August 20th, 2010 by Kim Jensen

The Proverbial Cake

I know you’re familiar with the proverb; ‘You can’t have your cake and eat it too’. Meaning, ‘You can’t eat your cake and then hope to still have it cause you done already ate it Loretta!’  In other words, ‘You can’t have it both ways.’

Hmm…Really?

I’m of the firm mind that you can have it any way you really want it and if that includes all of it, then so be it! Absurd?

Let’s take a closer look.

It is my belief that the human spirit is waking up to the seeming, possible-possibilities regarding its full potential, and to what the implications of that could really mean, not only for themselves, but for the world at large.

Eckhart Tolle:

To quote one of the greatest minds on human evolution, Mr. Eckhart Tolle wrote,

“… We are… part of a profound transformation that is taking place in the collective consciousness of the planet and beyond: the awakening of consciousness from the dream of matter, form, and separation…. We are breaking mind patterns that have dominated human life for eons, mind patterns that have created unimaginable suffering on a vast scale.”

Our time is unlike any other time before.  We are on the cusp of an evolutionary shift of the mind. When have we ever encountered an era wherein the majority had the audacity to want it all? Is this just the ‘Veruca Salt Syndrome’? “But Daddy, I want a golden goose now!”

Deciding: Kickin’ the ‘Buts’

August 3rd, 2010 by Kim Jensen

You know what’s funny?

I’ve spent over a week trying to decide what to express to you next! (Oh, the irony.)

Life… being full of limitless options, can get our heads spinning ‘Linda Blair’ style until we’ve lost sight of our true wantings. We vacillate, hem n’ haw and then sabotage or own desires because our ‘buts’ get in the way.

‘But if I quit school and joined Circus Olay my parents would kill me, not to mention all the cash they’ve invested in my Accounting Degree. All my friends would totally laugh at me… and what are the chances the knife swallowing girl would really dig me?

So, I’ll just stay put. Nice, safe… and resentful.

We get numerous cues from a variety of sources; parents, teachers, the media and even the economy. Everyone knows what’s best for our future happiness.

Yippy for us! We never have to make another decision in our lives if we really don’t want to. Sweet relief and dull days ahead…Bring it!

Only you can truly know what you really want.

There’s this place within you that cannot be ignored without due stress in the form of pain. As natural pleasure seekers, this will simply not do. So here’s the question…What do you really want? Do you even remember what it was anymore?

Knowing what you want is not the same as deciding to do it. It is a start though. You can decide to do something, even if you’re not exactly sure what it is or where it will take you, and have some success. But if you know what you want and make no decision…you’re screwed.

If you know your passion and are not active in making it a reality, we’ve come to the conclusion that there have been a lot of BUTS barring the way. ‘Buts’ of all shapes and sizes, surrounding you on every side.

(This ain’t no Hugh Hefner fantasy, more like…hello nightmare!)

Triggering The Happiness Button

July 23rd, 2010 by Kim Jensen

Mood Awareness

We all experience lower mood levels associated with hunger, tiredness and pain. But what of the daily rise and fall of energy and mood? Have you ever had a day when every one you meet is an ass? (You know what I’m gonna say, huh?) The ‘Ass’ is…You.

This is very good to know.

Being aware of the filters you see life through is invaluable to your          personal growth and inevitable happiness. I know… it’s so much more satisfying to blame the other guy, but in the long run you will be the one left holding the bag of doody.

So how does one face the roller coaster of moods that bombard us through out the day?

Most often we can’t even identify why we’re feeling upset, and this mystery creates and even lower mind set because of the confusion and guilt that accompanies it.

You know the drill…  ‘What’s wrong, are you o.k.’? (Thems’ is fightin’ words!)  You say:  “Well, I wasn’t upset until you started asking for reasons why I’m upset, so now because you keep bothering me with inquiries of my upset-ness, I am now presently pissed off… at you”

The scapegoat has been chosen and ready for the sacrifice!

The place to begin is at the beginning of a drop in mood. You will learn to pinpoint these moments, with practice, and nip them in the bud.  You practice by noticing your feelings through the awareness of them.

Don’t shy away from the word ‘feelings’, because there is nothing you want or do that doesn’t come with a feeling tag on it.

Think on this. If you were perfectly blissful, content and joyous right now and for ever more…what more could you want? Nothing! You would have it all! The only thing left would be to share what you have with others.

It’s like discovering this really cool band; you just have to turn someone else on to them! Being the only blissful being in the world isn’t very blissful at all, is it?  So bottom line; feeling good is everything.

Cultivating Courage

July 23rd, 2010 by Kim Jensen

Keep Your Cool!

Courage is a state of mindful awareness and emotional control.

The courageous possess a coolness of being. They walk, talk, work and eat in fluid effortless movements. These guys are cool!  An archetype for this would be the John Wayne’s and the 007’s of the cinema…COOL-NESS.

Even in uncertain circumstances these types have a sense of confidence and repose in what they do and how they do it. We have confidence in them because we can feel they will succeed and they do.

Why is that? When one is aware and check themselves they are able to create positive outcomes in everything they do. To clarify, let’s look at the opposite of courage, which would be cowardice.

(Earl Nightingale exchanges the word ‘cowardice’ for ‘conformity’ … interesting.)

Hurry & Worry

Cowards are full of…fear. Timidity, tenseness, impulsiveness and hurry are their banners of yellow.

May I concede that cowardice is rooted in hurry?  There is an element of fear in hurry.

What if you miss your flight or the boat, and then, what of all the other possible consequences of this miss? What will you have to endure if you’re forced to… (God forbid) wait? Waiting has become a four letter word. We’ve trained ourselves to believe we must now delay our pleasure.

The Value of Time

July 23rd, 2010 by Kim Jensen

Upon hearing the word…“Value, in this time of extreme social marketing, I tend to get a bit put-off by it’s over use.  You know exactly what I mean, don’t you?

But value is the word for the day so…let’s just accept that, kay?

To value something is to hold that ‘something’ dear.

What is deemed as valuable to one and then given to another is as a treasure from the heart, given to another with pure intent.

And, only those of like minds can receive this gift and see it’s true worth, or rather it’s…value.

In this same spirit of giving, I would like to share with you my thoughts regarding the value of time.

Time Hoarder!

I love time. I love having time, being surrounded on all sides by it. I hoard time. (And I won’t be gettin any psychiatric help with that any time soon.)

I wake up early just to be with time, even if I just sit still in time, it is of value to me. I love emailing and texting and resist phone calls and long visits. I avoid set appointments, except when necessary.

I’ve noticed when a set appointments time is at hand, I begin to feel trapped by its imposing squeeze. (On second thought, maybe I should seek professional help.)

Sweeping of the Mindset

Mind Setting 101

Everyone’s talking about ‘mind-set’ these days. This is not just a fad…it is a whole new way of looking at your life, and amazingly enough, attending to your business.

It has become quite clear that to have success in modern internet marketing, you must create an online presence that stands out against the backdrop of the proverbial crowd.

You must become a leader. (sucks…huh?)

Have no fear, we’re gonna pimp you up! (Not really, but that could be fun as well.)

The person you must lead is yourself. Only then will others be willing to follow.

You have within yourself all that is required to actualize being a leader, if this is what you want. A true wanting of something is the catalyst for its attainment.

Anyone can fill their minds with the thoughts that will enhance their lives, and simultaneously discard the beliefs that are barring the way to their desired outcome.

Pretending

Let’s pretend, at the very least, you wish to be a leader, (wishing is wanting without power) but it can lead to wanting, which leads to a healthy obsessive passion and a firm resolve to fulfill said desire, i.e., leadership.

“When you wish Upon a Star” is one of my favorite songs—so, no hate’n on the wishers.  Since we’re already in the pretend mode, let’s go ahead and make you a “true wanter”.   Okay, you’re a true wanter! Cool… huh?

Observation: Did you feel better when we made you a true wanter instead of just a wisher? Yeah…you did.

Personal Branding

July 23rd, 2010 by Kim Jensen

Re-Minding You:

You are the most important component in your business.

Thank you for stopping by today. You have value to me and are very much appreciated. That being said, lets talk a little more about you and personal branding. (Sounds daunting, doesn’t it? )

I will take for granted you are involved in some sort of marketing business, or at least, would like to be. Yes, I thought so.

Do you love what you’re doing in marketing? Are you up nights pondering the next big internet marketing scheme? Or are you wondering how you’re gonna pay for the next batch of PPC’s you so desperately need?

Do you get stressed out just thinking of the leads you’re supposed to call? (First thing in the morning, of course.)  Did you know that everything you need to be successful online is already yours?

It is YOU!

To be more specific…people pay for who you ARE. It’s really true.

You’re product is probably really cool and possibly offers a great benefit to others, but they could get that product or something better from someone else. Why will people buy from you?

TRUST!Yeah, that’s it… Okay, off you go… good luck with that.

Hmm…what does that mean…trust?

Number one is obvious; you won’t get trust if you’re a complete ass. And if you are, well then there’s something to work on, now isn’t there? (Trust me, I know what that entails…being an ass and all, I have some expertise in this area.)

Let’s just assume you’re pretty much on the up and up, at least “wanting” to do well for others and for the world in general. You wouldn’t have read this far if it we’re not so.

Number two, you value others. Not in some creepy insipid way, just a genuine desire to be of service to your clients. (I don’t like the word – “prospects”- too impersonal)

Number three, you take the LEAD! Yes, you take the lead.
